Travel and tourism consists of many different industries, all combining to create vibrant and exciting careers. Hotels, transportation, recreational parks and restaurants are just a few of the different areas that use the services of travel and tourism specialists.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use sound knowledge of industry operations and a broad range of managerial skills to coordinate tourism and travel operations or marketing and product development activities. You will be able to operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions. 

This qualification provides you with a pathway to work in any sector of the tourism and travel industry as a departmental or small business manager. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in either operations management or marketing and product development.

Entry requirements

To enrol into this course Students need to have either the following pre-requisite units OR evidence of extensive work experience in the travel and tourism industry:

SITTIND201 Source and use information on the tourism and travel industry

SITTTSL201 Operate an online information system

SITTTSL202 Access and interpret product information

SITTTSL306 Book supplier services

SITTTSL307 Process travel-related documentation

SITTTSL308 Use a computerised reservations or operations system

SITXCCS401 Enhance the customer service experience

SITXCOM201 Show social and cultural sensitivity

Students that do not meet entry requirements may be required to complete the Diploma of Travel and Tourism Skill Set.  

Workplace Requirements

Please note Students are required to either be in paid employment or do volunteer work in a workplace in order to complete the practical aspects of the Diploma of Toursim.
