The Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015) provides students with the skills needed to work in community services, case management and social housing. They are involved in managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering person-centered services to individuals, groups and communities.
Graduates may work to assist individuals and communities to make decisions that will improve their circumstances, identify and respond to crises, manage the wellbeing of workers and advocate for the rights of vulnerable people. Graduates may also work with humanitarian agencies outside of Australia.
Graduates will provide support and services in areas including physical and mental health, housing, community development education and training and financial support.
Graduates may work as a:
- Community services worker
- Welfare worker
- Case worker/manager
- Community educator
- Support worker
- Outreach worker
- Intake officer
- Program manager
For entry into the Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015), you will need to:
- meet any specified course entry requirements; AND
- provide a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (i.e. a Year 12 qualification); OR
- achieve an Exit Level 3 score within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in reading and maths, which will show that you have the capability to be successful in the course. This is done through two short tests as a part of your enrolment process.
This is an online-only course which includes a vocational placement of 200 hours.
