The Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety is a nationally recognised qualification that will give you the foundation of skills and knowledge to plan, carry out and evaluate your own work and the work of others with regard to your organisation's safety responsibilities.
This Certificate IV is the minimum requirement to become a work (WHS) or occupational health and safety (OHS) officer.
Please note: This course supersedes and is equivalent to the Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (BSB41407).
The Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety is ideal for supervisors and managers who need to comply with occupational health and safety regulations.
Supervisors in WHS deal with health and safety issues in their workplace daily and knowing how hazards occur and how they can be prevented through effective policies and procedures is critical to ensuring the health and safety of staff and client wellbeing.
Participants will cover implementing and maintaining WHS management systems, how to identify and manage risk, hazard identification and compliance with WHS laws.
Upon successful completion of the Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, graduates will be able to attain roles such as:
- Entry level health and safety officer
- Health and safety supervisor
- WorkCover trainer
The qualification is also complementary to roles in human resources, construction, public administration and safety, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, hospitality, scientific and technical services, and logistics and supply chain management.
The Certificate IV course is also a pathway to a Diploma of Work Health & Safety qualification, where graduates will have more opportunities to further their careers.
There are no entry requirements for the qualification.
Course duration is dependent on study mode.
Online students will have the benefit of self-paced study with the average student able to complete the course within 52 weeks studying 6 hours per week.
This course also has a virtual classroom option run over 6 weeks.
