Turn anatomy and physiology lessons into healing power and learn the techniques for both therapeutic and relaxation massage. When you are qualified you can secure a role as a natural therapy practitioner in a growth area.
The Certificate IV in Massage Therapy provides you with the fundamental knowledge required to practice relaxation and therapeutic massage, and teaches you the basic skills including health assessment and treatment. This foundation course will prepare you for further studies into such areas as remedial massage, where you can study a range of subjects from lymphatic drainage and sports massage to cross fibre mobilisation.
You will spend time working in the College massage clinic which is open to th public so you'll get experience with real clients in a real work environment.
Graduates from the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy (HLT42015) are competent base level massage therapists with the potential to find employment in a range of areas. These include massage work in a clinic (or your own clinic), in a spa facility, in the fitness or sports industries, or in an aged care or palliative care facility.
For entry into the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy you will need to:
- meet any specified course entry requirements; AND
- have completed Australian Year 11 or equivalent; OR
- have a Certificate III; OR
- achieve an Exit Level 3 score within the Australian Core Skills Framework (or approved equivalent) in reading and numeracy.

Course duration is dependent on study mode.
Online students can study full-time to complete in 48 weeks or part-time to complete in 96 weeks.
On-campus students can study full-time to complete in 24 weeks or part-time to complete in 48 weeks under a structured program.
In addition to study hours, online students who are unable to attend the AIAS Clinic will have to complete mandatory vocational placement of 100 hours for HLT42015 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy.
Prior to commencing work placement students are required to have a current:
First Aid certificate - HLTAID003 and Working with Children Check and/or National Police Check
