The Certificate IV in Design will assist graduates to develop skills across a broad spectrum of visual projects. The course is suitable for those students with basic design skills as demonstrated through a Certificate III in Design or equivalent work experience.

You will achieve the fundamentals of design, enabling you to quickly and effectively represent, communicate and refine concepts. Learn how to enhance your creativity through the use of contemporary creative software, and bring your creative ideas to life.

Places of employment include advertising agencies, design studios, publishing houses, pre-press companies and consumer goods companies. Many designers choose to establish their own business and work in a freelance capacity.

Entry requirements

For entry into the Certificate IV in Design, you need to:

  • have completed Australian Year 11 or equivalent; OR
  • have a Certificate III; OR
  • achieve and Exit level 3 score with the Australian Core Skills Frame work assessments in reading and maths, which will show that you have the capability to be successful in the course.  This is done through two short tests as part of your enrolment process.

Course duration

Course duration is dependent on study mode.

Online students will have the benefit of part-time study with students to complete the course within 50 weeks under a structured program.

Students wishing to study via classroom delivery must study full-time and will complete this qualification in 25 weeks.
