Looking for an entry level course to start in a stable career? The Certificate IV in Accounting course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to undertake operational reporting, prepare simple management reports and perform financial calculations.

The Certificate IV in Accounting Course is ideal for those who are in accounting administration who would like to formalise their skills and experience, or new business owners who need basic accounting skills to assist with running operations. This qualification in accounting reflects job roles in financial services and other industries requiring accounting support functions. It meets the minimum education standards required to provide services as a tax agent.

This course will provide learning for those undertaking tasks such as completing Business Activity
Statements (BAS) and other office taxes, producing basic management reports and
preparing budgets. It is designed to provide skills in classifying, recording and reporting of
accounting information, maintaining inventory records and making decisions in a legal context.

Please note that a free student version of MYOB is included as part of the course for PC users. Students using the Apple iOS will need to purchase MYOB separately.

Completion of this course will allow graduates to find employment as a:

  • BAS Specialist

Persons providing a BAS service must be registered by the Tax Practitioners Board and this qualification is currently cited as meeting the educational requirements for registration.

Other conditions apply including a designated period of experience. Persons seeking BAS agent registration should check current registration requirements with the Board as this is regularly under review.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this couse although exposure to accounting in a work context is highly recommended.

Course duration is dependent on study mode.

Students have 18 months to complete this course. 

Students wishing to study via classroom delivery should speak to a CoursesNow consultant to discuss provider options. Most Certificate IV programs run for a few hours a week for 52 weeks during the chosen institution's term time.
