Certificate III in Laundry Operations

Course overview

This course is for people who work or want to work in a commercial laundry as a supervisor or operator. Operations carried out in commercial laundries include the receiving and sorting of garments and linen, identifying fabrics and their care requirements, the preparation of garments and linen for washing, safe handling of laundry chemicals, operating and monitoring washing machines, dryers and boilers, inspecting and repairing garments and linen, finishing and pressing garments and linen ready for despatch, and providing customer service.

Laundries can be large commercial enterprises that service the hospitality and health care industries, or smaller businesses providing a service direct to individual customers.

The course is made up of core and elective units. You must complete eight core units, and at least ten elective units to receive the qualification. You will need access to plant and equipment used in a laundry facility to complete some of the units in this course.
