Course overview
This course is aimed at people who would be in a supervisory capacity or wishing to operate their own small dry cleaning business.
At Certificate III level you will undertake units which involve planning of work, control of production, operating machinery and supervise operations including dealing with staff within a dry cleaning shop.
Operations carried out by dry cleaners include the receiving and sorting of garments and textile items, identifying fabrics and their care requirements, identifying special treatment requirements, the preparation of garments and textile items for dry cleaning, safe handling and use of dry cleaning chemicals and solvents, operating and monitoring wet and dry cleaning machines, pressers, steamers and boilers, inspecting and repairing garments and textile items, finishing and pressing garments and textile items ready for despatch, and providing customer service.
The course is made up of core and elective units. You must complete the ten core units, and at least eight elective units to receive the qualification. You will need access to plant and equipment used in a dry cleaning facility to complete some of the units in this course.

There are no formal educational requirements for this course.
Articulation
When you finish this course you may be eligible to do the LMT40807 Certificate IV in Laundry Operations (19531).
Early Exit Points
Depending on your choice of electives, you may be eligible to receive the LMT21507 Certificate II in Dry Cleaning Operations (19523).
