Certificate II in Dry Cleaning Operations

Course overview

This course is for people who work or want to work in a dry cleaning business. Operations carried out by dry cleaners include the receiving and sorting of garments and textile items, identifying fabrics and their care requirements, identifying special treatment requirements, the preparation of garments and textile items for dry cleaning, safe handling and use of dry cleaning chemicals and solvents, operating and monitoring wet and dry cleaning machines, pressers, steamers and boilers, inspecting and repairing garments and textile items, finishing and pressing garments and textile items ready for despatch, and providing customer service.

Dry cleaning businesses can be large commercial enterprises that service other industries, or smaller businesses providing a service direct to individual customers.

The course is made up of core and elective units. You must complete the seven core units, and at least five elective units to receive the qualification. You will need access to plant and equipment used in a dry cleaning facility to complete some of the units in this course.
