Course Overview

This qualification is ideally suited to those seeking a career in the Retail Services Industry. Enrolling students may come from a background of current employment in retail services and now seek to gain competencies for supervisory and management roles in the retail industry.

Enrolling students with prior experience must provide references of prior experience and current competencies. Those who do not possess industry experience may enrol through completion of prerequisite recognition process.

Entry Requirements
There are two alternative pathways for entry into the Certificate III in Retail. The candidate must either:

1. Be recognised as Competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following units of competency:
SIRXCCS001A - Apply point-of-sale handling procedures
SIURXCCS002A - Interact with customers
SIRXCLM001A - Organise and maintain work areas
SIRXCOM001A - Communicate in the workplace
SIRXICT001A - Operate retail technology
SIRXIND001A - Work effectively in a retail environment
SIRXINV001A - Perform stock control procedures
SIRXOHS001A - Apply safe working practices
SIRXRSK001A - Minimise theft

OR

2. Have sufficient relevant retail employment experience. A current or previous job role that involves or has involved the application of the above competencies, would be a satisfactory indicator for entry. Examples of experience to support this would be a job description and references from current or past employers on a company letterhead.

The 10 units are delivered in flexible delivery/correspondence modes. Each student’s achievement of each unit of competency is assessed by their completion of workbook based activities, written tests and project work.

AAMC offers flexible options for your learning, to suit business lifestyles and preferred learning styles, meeting the needs of individual learners and complying with workplace planning issues for companies.

  • Assessment methods

    The processes used to validate assessment activity in this program are:

  • Industry surveys
  • Student feedback
  • Trainer and assessor survey
  • Management review
  • National recognition

    AAMC proudly recognises the qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). If you have already commenced and completed some of the units of competency outlined in this program you simply need to advise us of this, provide a copy of your certificates and you will automatically receive recognition for those units. That is, you will not need to redo them. We will provide you with a fee commensurate to the completion of the remaining units only.

    Course duration

    AAMC allows six months for completion of all its courses. Within this framework, timescales are dependent on your commitment, motivation and other life priorities and activities. For some people this may be a matter of days or weeks, for others it may be the full six months.
