Description

Given the competition that is prevalent in current times, people need to equip themselves with managing data using advanced techniques in a database. This course is for advanced users who have already acquired a basic knowledge of handling databases in FileMaker® Pro for a while. Specifically, students who want to learn creating several databases to track information like contacts, inventory, or other information, maintaining databases that other people have designed, that you can't adequately manage using a spreadsheet or word processing application, accessing data spread in different databases as tables. The advanced level information presented in the course will help people acquire the essential skills needed to understand and apply improved database management techniques.This course is for students who have some experience using FileMaker Pro 10, but are finding that their needs for managing data exceeds their current capabilities. This course is also relevant for students who need to share databases with other users on a network or over the Internet.

Objectives

  • In this course, you will create a database model based on relationships between tables that hold data. You will automate tasks based on scripts, work with functions and data found in external data sources. In addition, you will publish your database on the web and provide utilitarian features to users.

  • RAM 512 MB (1 GB or more recommended)
  • Internet connection 256K (broadband recommended)
  • Adobe Flash Player 8 (current version recommended)
  • Adobe Reader 7 (or higher)
  • Other requirements may apply to supplemental offline activities. Omitting these optional activities does not affect course completion.
