Description
In this course you will examine the framework of a COBOL program and a COBOL source code line. The concepts of a compiler, a linker, source code, and object code will all be introduced. You will also examine the procedures for declaring fields, recording descriptions, and accessing disk files on a hard disk. You will explore a number of important techniques that are fundamental and should be known by anyone programming in COBOL. Some of the techniques covered are lowercase to uppercase conversion and the use of COPY files. Programmatic examples are studied for selecting, sorting, and reporting data. Finally, the subject of date manipulation is introduced.
