Federal government funding
The objective of the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program is to develop a more
skilled Australian workforce that delivers long-term benefits for our nation and our
international competitiveness. This is achieved by encouraging employers to open up genuine
opportunities for skills-based training of their employees, through provision by the Australian
Government of financial incentives to employers who employ and train an Australian
Apprentice (apprentice or trainee).
Incentives
$1,500 for an employer who commences an Australian Apprentice in Cert III or higher (generally 3 months after commencement)
$2,500 for an employer of Australian Apprentice who successfully completes a Cert III or higher (generally at the 1 year mark)
Are you eligible?
Employees need to be eligible to receive the funding; eligibility is based on the following:
State government funding
The NSW and ACT state governments meet the cost of the Colleges tuition fees for eligible new employees, leaving only the compulsory Enrolment Fee to be met by the employee or employer, generally around $400. New Entrants may also be eligible for Government funding i.e. $4, 000.
Employees need to be eligible to receive the State funding; eligibility is based on the following:
Employers may also receive payroll tax rebates and exemptions if they enroll their new employees into a traineeship within the first 3 months of their employment. This exemption/rebate is available for the duration of the qualification, up to 2 years with the exact % amount different in each state.
