Student Driver Program (32 hrs)

Course Overview

This course for Secondary College Students is designed to develop basic driving and vehicle handling skills. The course comprises both theoretical and practical sessions alternating throughout the five days. The emphasis is placed on a smooth and unhurried approach to the driving task.

Objectives

  • To develop an understanding of road laws and the need to abide by them.
  • To develop basic skills in controlling a car in normal driving situations.
  • To create an awareness for the need to display a courteous and responsible attitude in relation to the driving task.

Note: Late model Ford Falcon sedans with manual or automatic transmissions are provided for the program.

Certification

A Training Statement of Attendance is issued to each participant.

Training conducted on this course aligns to the following units of competence from the Training Package: TDT30202 Certificate III in Transport and Distribution (Road Transport)

  • TDTC197B - Drive Vehicle 
  • TDTB497B - Carry out vehicle Inspection

Drivers will not be assessed to obtain a qualification as aprt of this course. Those who do require a formal assessment against the course and competency, may make a booking for a competency based assessment at another time and at a further cost.
