Learn to speak German!

Thomson Education Direct's comprehensive German course will teach you how to speak German confidently by learning conversational skills, reading and writing. Within a few months, you will be able to read, write and speak in basic German.

As well as your written assignments, you will be able to listen to tapes for the correct pronunciation and you will be asked to send in short samples of your speaking to your tutor. Your tutor will keep you on the right track and be there to answer any questions you may have.

Conversational Skills

• You will be able to make bookings for travel and hotels, tell the time and the date. You will learn how to understand the currency when shopping and dining. We will teach you how to order a meal in a restaurant, a cafe or bar and how to find out what is happening locally.
• You will be able to understand the local weather forecasts and learn how to communicate via the post office and telephone services. Purchasing personal items and knowing what to do in an emergency is covered in this section.

Communicating

• You will perfect your reading, writing and speaking skills and learn how to write letters with the correct grammar and punctuation. We will teach you about the structure of sentences and how to speak with the correct pronunciation.
• Included in this section are some useful tips for tourists and some facts and figures about the country.
