This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a variety of information technology support roles including database administration. The qualification has a strong Information Communication Technology (ICT) base of 12 common core units, with the potential for inclusion of a range of broader support, help desk and database units to suit particular needs.
This stream develops skills in the administration of commercial database systems and could provide database support to an organisation. Database
administration employees make sure that the underlying technologies provide users with flexibility in the management, access, retrieval, sharing and
configuration of the large amounts of data held by many ICT systems. There are several vendor courses that could potentially relate to this
qualification.
Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns or Townsville and other regional areas throughout Queensland.
This course is structured through competency based training and assessment. Course duration is based on individual training requirements. 24 months for a full-time traineeship is an indication.
A range of pre-requisite units that contain the basic fundamentals of ICT knowledge and skills are required for entry into this course.
Small to medium enterprises will find the outcomes of this qualification useful at a technical specialist support level. ICT support job roles apply across all industries.
The award of Certificate IV in Information Technology (Support) Database Administration will be given to students who successfully complete the prescribed units.
Further training may be sought in units listed in the Information Communications Technology Training Package. Please contact your Courses Now Training Solutions Advisor for additional information.
Units of competency from Certificate level IV provide articulation into higher level qualifications. Such articulation is subject to individual evaluation. The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Support) Database Administration stream provides logical entry into higher level qualifications
such as the Diploma of Information Technology (Database Design and Development); or a pathway into Systems Administration, or Project Management.
This course has a rolling intake. Continuous enrolments allow students to commence training at any time.
This course may be delivered through a combination of online, class, workplace, self-paced and distance learning.
