Qualification Descriptor
Certificate III in Business requires 12 modules.
A minimum of 8 units from the Common Business units at Certificate III, listed below, including BSBCMN311A Maintain Workplace safety.
And 4 units from the Business Services Trainer Package or any other endorsed Training Package, of which a minimum of 2 units must be from a Certificate III qualification.
Units from other Training Packages must not duplicate units selected from the Business Services Training Packages.
All units selected must contribute to and combine to form a work outcome.
Please note that these contain some components of work outcomes that are similar and some significant differences. They are, therefor, not equivalent to each other. However, competence in one unit is evidence that part of competence in the other has been achieved.
In any case where the packaging of this qualification meets the rules of a specialists qualification at this level, then the specialist qualifications and not the generic qualifications must be awarded.
Government Funding
The government understands the nation’s competitive advantage is based on human capital, so a portion of Government revenue is given back in employer training incentives. This covers up to 100% of training undertaken by your team.
As an RTO (Registered Training Organisation) we are able to offer you the availability of having your employees trained and competent to a Government Certification Accreditation.
There is Government funding of up to $4,000 per person currently available to the employer for eligible participants enrolling in one of our nationally accredited programs.
The Government funding is all organised by us in conjunction with the New Apprenticeship Centre (NAC) in accordance with State Training Authority Guidelines.

- This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to exercise initiative and influence others in a business environment. It includes making decisions in accordance with organisational requirements.
BSBCMN302A (COMMON) - ORGANISE PERSONAL WORK PRIORITIES AND DEVELOPMENT
- This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to organise own work schedules, monitor and obtain feedback on work performance, and maintain required levels of competence.
BSBFLM303B (COMMON) - CONTRIBUTE TO EFFECTIVE WORKPLACE RELATIONSHIPS
- This unit specifies the outcomes required to gather information and maintain effective working relationships and networks, with particular regard to communication and representation.
BSBCMN305A (COMMON) - ORGANISE WORKPLACE INFORMATION
- This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to gather, organise and apply workplace information in the context of an organisation's work processes and information management systems.
BSBCMN310A (COMMON) - DELIVER AND MONITOR A SERVICE TO CUSTOMERS
- This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to identify customers' needs and monitor a service provided to customers.
BSBCMN311A (COMMON) - MAINTAIN WORKPLACE SAFETY
- This unit is concerned with OH&S responsibilities of employees with supervisory responsibilities to implement and monitor the organistion's Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures and programs in a small team to meet legislative requirements.
BSBCMN312A (COMMON) - SUPPORT INNOVATION AND CHANGE
- This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to contribute ideas for improved work practices and to support the implementation of innovative work practices to effect change.
BSBCMN316A (COMMON) - PROCESS CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS
- This unit specifies the outcomes required to handle formal and informal negative feedback and complaints from customers.

BSBCMN317A (ELECTIVE) - MEET CUSTOMER NEEDS AND EXPECTATION
- Thus unit specifies the outcomes required to deal with complex, long-term customer relationships at an operational level. It covers identifying, clarifying and meeting customer needs and expectations on a one-to-one basis, usually over an extended period of time. It will usually entail multiple encounters with the same customer, but could also apply to a single complex encounter.
BSBCMN315A (ELECTIVE) - WORK EFFECTIVELY WITH DIVERSITY
- This unit specifies the outcomes required to recognise individual differences and respond sensitively, and work effectively with individual differences.
BSBCMN403A (ELECTIVE) - ESTABLISH BUSINESS NETWORKS
- This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to develop and maintain effective workplace relationships and networks. It covers the activities of communication and representation.

- This unit covers the maintenance of financial records for a business. It includes activities such as the maintenance of daily financial records, including reconciling debtors' and creditors' systems and preparing a maintaining a general ledger and preparing a trial balance. It also includes activities associated with the monitoring of cash control for accounting purposes.

- This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to provide advice and information within an organisation about the development and distribution of its products and services.
BSBCMN313A - MAINTAIN ENVIRONMENTAL PROCEDURES
- This unit covers the maintenance and monitoring of the organisation's environmental policies and procedures as an integral part of the organisation's business operations. Those who work under instruction but have some autonomy in the workplace should undertake this unit.
