Released in 2007, Windows Vista is the newest version of Microsoft's popular operating system. Whether you've recently upgraded or been using it since its release, this four-level course will help you make the most of Windows Vista.

Detailed Course Outline
Getting Started To begin, we will learn how to log onto Vista; use the desktop, Welcome Center, Start menu, system tray, and taskbar; and shut down Vista.
Working With Vista This section will cover the basics of working with an application, a window, files, and folders. We will also discuss how to use Vista's menus and shortcut keys.
The Basic Vista Applications Participants will learn how to use WordPad, Calculator, and Paint. We will also take a brief look at NotePad, Windows Media Player, Windows Contacts, Windows Photo Gallery, and Windows Calendar.
Doing More with Vista This section will explore the Security Center, Internet Explorer 7, and Windows Mail.
Getting Help in Vista This section will explore various ways that users can get help, including Remote Assistance.
The Vista Features Participants will learn how to use the Sidebar and gadgets, the Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Calendar, and Windows Contacts.
The Vista Applications Participants will learn how to use Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, Windows DVD Maker, and Windows Fax and Scan.
Customising Your Desktop This section will teach participants how to customise the taskbar, Quick Launch bar, the Start Menu, and the desktop.
Advanced File and Folder Tasks In this section, participants will explore various parts of Windows, including search tools, Windows Explorer, command prompt, the default folders, and the Recycle Bin. Participants will also learn advanced file and folder management tasks, including how to share and view files and folders.
Making Vista Work for You This section will introduce participants to the Control Panel. We will also learn how to customise language settings, mouse behavior, screen themes, sound schemes, screen resolution, date and time, volume settings, and startup programs. Finally, participants will learn how to set accessibility options and customise user accounts.
Networking with Vista Participants will learn how to set up a basic network, use network features, connect to network resources, and set up a wireless network.
Maintaining and Optimising your Computer Participants will learn about some of Vista's disk management features, including defragmenting, error checking, power options, and temporary files. We will also explore some of Vista's security features, including Windows Defender and parental controls.
Hardware and Software This section will teach participants how to add and remove software, set compatibility options, change startup programs, enable or disable Windows features, use Windows Task Manager, change default applications and file associations, view system information, use Device Manager, view your system score and improve performance, and manage hard disks.
Harnessing the Power of the Web Participants will learn how to use Remote Desktop, Remote Assistance, People Near Me, Windows Live Messenger, and Windows Meeting Space.
Troubleshooting your Computer Participants will learn how to use the Backup and Restore Center, Easy Transfer, the Problem Reports and Solutions Center, MSCONFIG, and System Restore.
Computer Management Tools This section will explore Vista's hard disk management utilities, including ReadyBoost, BitLocker, EFS, Computer Management, Windows Services Hardening, Data Execution Prevention, Network Access Protection, and access control lists. We will also look at Vista's mobility features: SideShow and the Mobility Center.
Advanced Topics To conclude the course, we will discuss speech recognition and the Administrative Tools group in the Control Panel.
