This traineeship course is designed for those currently employed in the automotive

What employment opportunities will I have?

What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate II in Automotive Servicing. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Credit transfers may be available into related certificate III courses. Further opportunities in the automotive industry may include certificate IV or diploma courses.

You are eligible to apply if you are aged 15 years or over and have an employer or have been offered an apprenticeship in the specific area of specialisation.

New Apprentices/Trainees will first need to be employed and signed up to a "Contract of Training" by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC), with Kangan Institute listed as the preferred provider . Applicants must be currently employed as an apprentice or trainee.
How long is the course?
This is a 12 month traineeship.
Where and how can I study?
The course may be offered at the Coburg and Richmond campuses. You can do your training by block, day release or workplace based.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
What will I study?
You will study: maintenance and component servicing operations; engines, associated engines and components; cooling systems and associated components; petrol fuel systems; clutch assemblies and associated operating system components; transmissions (manual and automatic); braking systems; final drive assemblies; steering systems; suspension systems; test, service and replace battery; workplace OH and S procedures; use and maintain workplace tools and equipment; workplace communication; and customer relations. Also, an additional three electives are to be selected.
