What employment opportunities will I have?

This is a skills based course which may lead to work in a range of occupations within the automotive manufacturing field associated with bus, truck and trailer manufacture.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in basic manufacturing processes, fabrication, welding and Occupational Health and Safety.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate II in Automotive Manufacturing (Bus, Truck & Trailer). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

Credit transfers or articulation are available into the Certificate III in Automotive Manufacturing (Bus, Truck & Trailer).

New Apprentices/Trainees will first need to be employed and signed up to a "Contract of Training" by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC), with Kangan Institute listed as the preferred provider . Applicants must be currently employed in the field of specialisation as your employer nominates you for the course.

How long is the course?

This is a 12-18 month part-time course of approximately 410 hours.

Study will be done in the workplace in a manufacturing environment.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods and may take place in your workplace. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

What will I study?

You will study basic manufacturing skills and knowledge associated with the bus, truck & trailer industry. This includes welding and fabrication, manufacturing systems and processes, OH &S and quality, and continuous improvement processes.
